Clock Tower II is my depiction of the clock tower that stands at the crossroad of my hometown. Our clock tower symbolizes heritage, community and home. It is a replica of the Zytglogge in Bern, Switzerland, reminding us of the homeland of our early Swiss settlers.
Our forefathers embraced the values that are engraved on the tower – faith, hope, vision, integrity, commitment, courage, heritage and hard work. These “value stones” ground us and remind us of our roots and of what is truly important.
The community gathers in the plaza beneath the clock tower and enjoy concerts and holiday events. Kid’s play in the splash pad and friends grab lunch under the shade of the pavilion. I can hear the clock chime the hours from my house and I feel like I’m part of something – I’m hearing the same music my neighbors are!
Best of all, when I’m returning from a trip and get within two or three miles of town, I see the clock tower looming in the distance. I smile and think, “Ah, I’m almost home.”
What’s New?
